WampServer 403 Forbidden Permissions Fix

Right after I installed WampServer I transferred my web files into the www directory (in the WampServer install location) and tried to access phpMyAdmin.  That’s when I was hit with a 403 Forbidden error. Then I tried to access one of the files that I had just transferred into the www directory and the same error appeared.

Note: Change C:\wamp in the below file paths to where you installed WampServer.

To fix the 403 Forbidden error when trying to access phpMyAdmin…
Go to the directory C:\wamp\alias\phpmyadmin.conf
Find the code:

    Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
    AllowOverride all
        Order Deny,Allow
  Deny from all
  Allow from 127.0.0.1

Change {default}Allow from 127.0.0.1{/default} to {default}Allow from 127.0.0.1 ::1{/default}

To fix the 403 Forbidden error when trying to view a file or site in the www directory…
Go to the directory C:\wamp\bin\apache\apache2.2.22\conf\httpd.conf
Find the section that begins with {default}DocumentRoot “C:/wamp/www”{/default}
You should see this code soon after:

    Options None
    AllowOverride None
    Order deny,allow
    Deny from all

Directly below add:

    Options None
    AllowOverride All
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
